Pregnancy Choice

Reflect is a free support service in North Yorkshire for anyone facing a pregnancy choice.

Pregnancy Choice...... We offer you space to think

An unintended pregnancy can be a crisis for anyone whatever your circumstance.

Or your pregnancy may have been turned into an agonising situation if you’ve been advised of a possible foetal abnormality.

Facing this and making a decision can be a confusing and difficult experience.

You may be feeling a whole range of emotions: shock, numb, confusion, rejected, scared, worried, tearful and you may have a sense of disbelief at your current situation. You may be saying to yourself “Why Me?” or “It’s not fair.” You may be finding it hard to think straight.

You may be single, in a relationship or experiencing a recent break-up. You may be a teenager, or in your 20s, 30s or 40s. This may be your first pregnancy, or you may have been pregnant before. You may a student, on benefits, self-employed or in a permanent job.

Whatever your individual circumstances, Reflect can offer you support.

It was a really helpful experience.
They gave me a safe place to talk frankly about what I was experiencing.

Our specially trained volunteers will listen and provide you space to think, talk, and work through all your options – giving you the chance to explore your feelings and help you make an informed decision. We provide information and signpost to local services. We aim to help you look at the three options you have: parenting, termination of pregnancy and adoption.

Parenting

We can help you explore how you feel about continuing the pregnancy and becoming a parent

Termination of Pregnancy

We can provide information about what's involved when you have an abortion and a space to explore how you feel.

Adoption

We can look into the practicalities of this process and how it might affect you.

Sometimes it’s hard to make choices because choices always involve both gains and losses. There are gains and losses involved with each of the options open to you. We help you to take time to consider how important each of those gains and losses are.

The most important thing about making a decision is that it is not based on fear, panic or manipulation.  If a woman (and partner also) make an informed decision that has not been rushed, you are far more likely to feel comfortable in carrying through that decision and looking back at that decision.

Our free support is available to everyone: women, men and couples. You can come on your own, or you are welcome to bring a friend or relative with you.

We are committed…
…to provide a confidential* service to all clients
…to provide a trained listening ear, factual information and unconditional acceptance to those who are experiencing a pregnancy choice
…to do this in a caring, safe and supportive environment; always being truthful and respecting every individual
…and at all times offer hope.
